I haven't been to the movies in quite awhile, but recently I went to watch Pacific Rim. So fail, one month holiday and I only watched three movies at the cinema. If I had to describe the movie in one word, it would be: INTENSE.
And no, this is not a movie about car rims. Pls. Just pls. Hahaha.
My brother's been making a joke about it calling it Specific Rim and saying, which rim do you want?

Although I do think it's a pretty cliche action movie, but good thing it left out the parts of hero-gets-the-girl in a dramatic kiss ending and they live happily ever after. It comes close to it, but still not quite haha, which is a good thing because in every superhero movie, that's pretty much the ending. So, my point is, if you like action, you should watch this at least once. A bit too much action for me though it's still pretty enjoyable. I was constantly at the edge of my seat, not literally cos I sat at the second row at the cinema and I would rather not break my neck. So yeah, you could say that I was slumped in my seat, but I was mentally at the edge.
The story's about these aliens called kaiju attacking the world after suddenly swimming out of the Pacific ocean. So the government decides to build these giant robots called Jaegers to fight them which needed to have two pilots who are 'compatible'. What defines compatible? At first it was like you had to have a bond, but in the end I don't even know anymore, anyone could just partner up with anyone. I don't get why they're called kaiju, which is a Japanese word, and the robots are called Jaeger, which sounds German. Awkward combination, but oh well haha. Josh says Jaeger reminds him of Jaegermeister. So it's all just a big party huh.
*spoilers ahead, skip to the last picture to evade haha*
Honestly, the special effects were super impressive, more than the story I guess. Some scenes were funny to me haha. Like that part where the double event happened, they killed the first kaiju and cut off the tail of the second kaiju which looked awfully like a lizard. And you think that was the end, but you are wrong. At first the second kaiju was just walking around the streets terrorising Hong Kong, and after they cut off its tail, it suddenly opened its arms to reveal that it has wings and flew. It's like it just suddenly decided to use it's wings for once, like it's fed up and decided to fly into the sky like a soaring eagle. Like I'm so tired of people cutting off my tail, I'm just gonna fly. Like what. Kind of reminds me of cockroaches.
The story's just pretty okay to me but unfortunately the main chara Raleigh didn't really leave a big impression on me. You know who left the biggest impression on me? Mako. The female character. They were all Mako this Mako that in the movie, I'm starting to think maybe she's the main character haha.

THE WHOLE MOVIE IS ABOUT MAKO HAHAHA.
